What do you want to do with the rifle?

The answer to your questions will be pretty different depending on what you intend to use it for.

It all depends on what you want to do with the rifle. Deer hunting? Killing paper? If I were you I'd start out with a Nikon Buckmasters or a Bushnell Elite scope and Harris swivel bi-pod (if you're going to do a lot of bench shooting). As far as the ammo goes, it all depends on what your rifle likes. I really don't see any reason to buy the ridiculously expensive ammo for whitetails. Federal Power-Shoc is about $14 a box. Shoots .75MOA out of my 700 and dropped the last deer I shot in his tracks. It doesn't take much to kill a whitetail.

If you really get into long range shooting, you'll end up rebuilding everything you have.
