Yes, the marlin will be fine, even on the timed stages... we will let you load an extra round and simulate a reload by breaking position and ejecting one round.

It would really help for your sights to be scientifically adjustable for windage and elevation. By scientifically I mean that you can move them in predictable increments (as opposed to drift sights that you just have to hammer on and guestimate how many MOA you are moving them, or non-adjustable sights that require you to hold off). Tech Sights are ideal, but if you don't want to go with them I would say use your scope.

I would say use the .22 for most of the event, but definitely still bring your VZ.24. You can at least get a good zero on it and run it through a couple of AQTs to see what you are capable of with it. That would be nice to know, since it is your only battle rifle.

And you should definitely put some sling swivels on that Marlin... I would go with this one from Uncle Mike's: http://www.google.com/products/cata...a=X&ei=MR8fTtDDFM7pgQezgrzPAw&ved=0CFAQ8wIwAQ

Then if you want to be able to use a GI web sling, which I strongly recommend, you will need to get some 1.25" swivels to replace those 1" ones: http://www.google.com/products/cata...a=X&ei=7R8fTrauF8y_gQfBtrSnAw&ved=0CFkQ8wIwAA

And you can get the GI web slings from Appleseed's website here: http://www.appleseedstore.flyingcart.com/?p=detail&pid=10&cat_id=0

Or if you come to one of our events at Afton, Mike (the range owner) has the 1.25" swivels and GI slings in stock and for a good price.

what is this event? Not to sound stupid, but am unfamiliar with it?
Here is the link to the website. http://www.appleseedinfo.org/ It contains all of the answers to questions you may have about the event. Appleseeds are a great way to become a much better shot with your rifle. They give you the fundamentals of how to properly hold you rifle when standing, kneeling, sitting and in prone positions. You will see improvement in your accuracy in the first few hours. Excellent Event with first class instructors!!!!

Took my Marlin 60 to Sgt. Everett's range yesterday and shot the following:

awww.twmaster.com_stuff_DSCF0001.JPG

The target on the left was at the max on the range. 21 Yards. That's all 18 shots from one mag. The middle target was also at 21yds. The black dots are 1" Three shots at each of the 5 bulls. Forearm resting on the shooters bench.

Next I took a sample Appleseed target placed about 15 yards. The top target was shot standing (no sling) the bottom two were with my hand resting on the counter in the shooters booth. No way to sit or lay prone in this range.

Old Mr Glenfield has a Crosman 4x15 air rifle scope. I wish I could afford those Tech Sights.

I'm pretty pleased with this old rifle. Can't wait to see what MR. Glenfield and I can do with some Appleseed training! :)
