I can understand wanting to change to larger diameter bullet but dead is dead no matter the size of the bullet. I have choice of many calibers when i go hunting. .223, .243, .308, 30-06 and 30-30 not to mention the 12 gauge. But I find myself taking the .223 more often than any other gun. I hand load and use the 55gr V-max. just devastating on deer and hogs. I can't see any more dead with a larger diameter bullet than the bang flop I get with the the little one. My .223 kills have been as close as 10 feet and as far as 150 yards. But if you wish to change the gun there is no harm in doing just that. If the .223 is accurate and you can put the bullet where it needs to go i would not mess with it. If accuracy is poor then I would look into a change of things.. If you can't hit the correct spot with an accurate gun the larger bullet will not make killing any better. My worst killing gun is my 30-30 ,,worst as in deer like to run . That bullet just pencils through I was using the 150gr flat nose. 2250 fps just did not get much expansion from it. So energy of the bullet just did not end up in the animal. Think about that when you pick a bullet for the 6.5 or any caliber and want to kill animals dead in their tracks.
