Just wanted to share a few photos of my backpacking trip up in the Cloud Peak Wilderness Area in the Bighorn Mountains of northern Wyoming. I grew up crawling around this range but this is only the second time I've packed into the wilderness area. The weather was beautiful and the fishing was great. We did about 15 miles over 3 days so we didn't beat up the scouts. My brothers set it all up and we had 4 scouts from the troop where I grew up plus I had three scouts that came up from our local troop here. It was definately a great experience for some kids who don't get to see that kind of country very often. Anyway, I hope the pics do it some justice, I'm not much of a photographer.

The first lake was all small to mid sized brook trout. The rest of the lakes were big 14-20" cutthroat and rainbows and cutbows.

Looks like alot of fun. I use to work in southern Wyoming when I was in the oil patch, but it is not as pretty as up north. I would like to go sometime. I bet the scouts had fun.

Looks absolutely amazing. What were you packing for protection?

I actually didn't take any firearms whatsoever. So I guess my mini griptillian and my hiking staff :) The beauty of the Bighorn Mountains is there are no grizzlies. There are black bear and there was some sign and black bears can be pretty aggressive but we were careful with our food storage and made sure we kept food away from tent areas.
