I'm talking about a nice gently used M14 style walnut stock complete with (faint but visible) DoD cartouche and proof mark.

That sounds like the stock I looked at the last time Navy Chief had a show in Duncan. I thought about buying it then, and putting it on my SOCOM. I'm looking forward to seeing it on your rifle!
