Misbehavior in front of the enemy? I hope that's worse than it sounds.

Maximum punishment. All offenses under Article 99. Death or such other punishment as a court-martial may direct.

Desertion is "only" 5 years in Fed pen and DD.

I just read on militarycorruption.com that a Major General says Bergdhal shouldn't serve any prison time and that he suffered as severe treatment as Vietnam POW's. It appears at the article that Bergdhal may receive full back pay for 5 years and have the status of a hero. If I worked at a VA Hospital and Bergdhal came in for treatment that I'd go on annual leave the moment I saw his name on the roster.
