Get the casting date off the left rear of the block forward of the bell housing. That will verify the model year.

The "S" means it was built in St. Louis I believe.

The "A" body is going to be a Chevelle, Malibu Concours, Estate Wagon, Nomad, El Camino, GMC Sprint, Laguna, or Monte Carlo.

According to everything I'm seeing, it's a 145hp 2bbl carb.

Yeah, the casting number will help determine if its a 4 bolt or not. It's probably not coming out of a 1974 a body, but you never know. Seems like alot of the truck blocks of that era were 4 bolt mains. Had a 75 truck block in a 69 camaro that was a 4 bolt. What's the head numbers??
