Those are sip containers or as Leon calls them wicking tubs. They excel when it comes to watering because you have a reservoir below as well as an air pocket . Are you using a fabric weed barrier over your pipes ?Yep! Second season we had to bury them, still utilized the draining system/water storage at the bottom in them, still watered the thru the pvc pipe to the bottom of tub. And left them 6-7 inches out of ground to keep weeds out. Then they work great! Lot less watering needed than ground garden, can feed through the pvc pipe below the plants, they excel!
