Much is spent on campuses these days to make them pretty and pleasant and empowering to those there to learn. I will admit, it does make for a nicer learning environment. But there is a limit, and also, to me, the ever-expanding role of colleges in the professional field(s) isn't necessary. It really pushes more people into crippling debt to start off their adult lives, and when you see some of the coursework they are forced to undertake, it is simply ridiculous. I could drone on for days about some of the things I see our current students in the healthcare fields having to do - total and absolute ******** busywork. I'm also convinced, especially in the nursing schools, that failing people out a couple of semesters because of said busywork is a financial decision on the part of the schools. Really sad to see. I know a number of folks who are/were serious students and very intelligent and hardworking people who were forced to repeat entire semesters or years because of some absolute ********. I'm not kidding, it really makes my blood boil, some of the **** I've seen...
