Darn Mud Daubers

Was outside watering a couple plants and noticed a stinkin’ mud dauber going into my 400A ATS through the N3R drain hole . “Oh no you di-int!” Pulled the cover and dead-front to find six nests…..thankfully not on anything too important only the ground lug etc…. Grabbed my Cementex tool set and got everything knocked off and cleaned up. Also put a little piece of steel wool in the hole which will hopefully let it drain and keep the little flying bastards out of the panel. Sure glad I found out what was going on before something happened that would cause me to say bad words.

I had a problem Carpenter Bees this year. They'er turning my cedar pergola into swiss cheese

i had them puild nests on the tops of a piston once. and on another they completely plugged the air intake on a tractor. had a neighbor change turbo and rebuild injection pump injectors only to find the air cleaner pipe almost closed off.

We had some yellowjackets build a next in our front porch light. They got sprayed and alas, no survivors. Haven’t seen much other activity around but I keep an eye out.

Saw a mud dauber dragging a dead grasshopper off of my porch this afternoon. Tried not to squish it too much so I could take a picture of it.

These are actually called “blue mud daubers.”
