We used to cruise Grand Ave in Ponca between the A&W on 14th st. and Sparky's burgers on Oak St. lines of vehicles both directions crawling along. Remember opening the dumps to let the pipes talk, loping the cam shaft, eyeballing the chicks and doing oil checks at stop lights. (get out, pop the hood, take the dipstick out, hand it to the driver and then drive off leaving them with the hood open) Led zepplin was still together, Jimi and Janice were still alive filling the car with music from the 8 track and AM radios. Ponca still celebrates cruising grand in June every year on a Friday night when they shut down Grand Ave in the downtown area for those with classic cars and classic motorcycles. Thousands line the streets to watch. Some really cool vehicles show up with one shooting flames from the exhaust pipes, etc. This is followed the next day with a classic car show at Lake Ponca. Same weekend as the herb festival, so it's a full weekend of activities.
