We pretty much talk about anything over $100. However, she never tries to talk me out of gun purchases. If we have the funds for it, she doesn't have a problem with buying guns. I've sold guns to buy guns, and when money was really tight right after college I sold a couple to help pay bills once. Didn't like it then, and don't ever plan on doing it again. Having a wife who loves the things you love - and loving the things your wife loves - is a huge blessing to a marriage. But that doesn't mean communication isn't important. It all depends on how you manage your finances. We pretty much have fully joint accounts, so we talk to each other before we spend money. Some people keep separate accounts. So long as you know and agree on your system, do it your own way. We also agreed not to spend on the spur of the moment, at least on big ticket items, which for us most guns qualify for that. Funny story, found a good deal on a scope once, and told the seller I had to talk to my wife before purchasing (also had to get the money from the bank, but I didn't tell him that). He was shocked when I came back and bought it. He said most people use that as an excuse to walk away without saying no.
