Water in the ditches, standing water in fields, etc. Makes it hard to pattern them.
Just curious how everyone else dove hunts.
Do you have a field that you work specifically for birds?
Do you scout like you do for ducks?
Or do you have an "Ol Reliable" that is a go to spot?
Me personally. I dont dove hunt much. But when I do. I use all three tactics in that order.

I usually keep an eye out for a location with lots of dove and that I think I can get permission. I usually take em a bag of deer jerky when asking. If they say yes, they get the gallon bag. If they say no they get the snack size bag and my name and phone number is on both. Once I got a call later saying bring that other bag out tomorrow when you come out to hunt.
That's what I do when pheasant hunting in Kansas. Sack of good jerky will go a long ways with a landowner riding the fence.
I see doves... now will they stay.... fingers crossed and gun oiled.

Not sure if its because I'm paying more attention or just more locals are in the area, but seeing alot of doves around. Plan to head to the hunting land next week and set stands and feeders. Hope to see good numbers of dove there. If so I hope to soon be enjoying dove Kobobs... At least the outlook for Dove is already a 100% better than last year. Fingers crossed for a good year.
I wish I knew how to hunt. I'm all most 46 years old and that's one skill I should have learned by now.
