I'd do a 22R if I was gonna put a Toyota engine in a Jeep.

As far a the 5.3l swap and wiring...
If your gonna run manual gages then the wiring is super simple. The factory harness is fine and you only need 3 wires out of it. It's hard to stress enough how simple a 5.3/TH350 swap in a jeep really is!
