I could care less about the carrier but we already had one Verizon phone so got this one as well.
If you text a lot and hate on screen keyboards this is one of the best ones available. Simple process to root and otherwise all around good phone. One other plus is that if you are a conspiracy theorist and think GPS is used by the US government to mess with people the phone supports GLONASS as well.
Mine is currently running 4.1.2 and it is a little older but that also means you won't be shelling out 200 plus to get one.
