First BASS of 2022

With most of the snow melted and the weather warming up nicely today, I thought I would take my ultra light 6' 6" St. Croix spinning outfit with 4 pound line and see if I could catch a bass.

Pulling up to an area in my little 10 ft. Pelican boat, I saw a v-wake up ahead of me, cast in front of it, and caught this 18" bass.

Nice. I hope to do more fishing this year. Some of my best in the past have been February fish.

Really looking forward to some serious fly fishing this year. Bass, carp, catfish and gar are on the list. Flies are tied, leaders are made, and all I need now is some warm Spring weather.
