A few years ago, when I lived in Muskogee, the local paper was losing readers and subscribers so the increased the cost by 50%. Single issues went from 50 cents to 75. I doubt if they have yet figured out why they continue to lose money Shows suffer from the same lack of understand ( in my opinion). The problem seems to be low attendance and the low attendance seems to be from the combination of high admission prices and low vendor count. Cut the admission to $5, or even free, cut the table rent to a reasonable amount, and volume will increase. It may take a couple of shows before the bad reputations are corrected, but it will work in the long run. As to vendor prices being higher than retail, even compared to local prices: if you can't compete, then get into another business. I'm not going to pay more to a show vendor that I'll have trouble finding again if there is a problem, when I can go to a local merchant that I can trust. Sorry, I got carried away!
