Finally got around to shooting the Henry 45-70 single shot today.

first issue was findings scope for it. I had a bushnell engage on it and when the rings were tightend down the hammer would hit the adjustment ring on the scope.
so I mounted this Leupold 1-4 on it.

I have high rings on it at the moment. Would have needed xtra high for the bushnell scope to work.

A buddy has a 100 yard range at his place and let me come out today to sight in

took just over half a box of ammo to sight in
But once I got it dialed in I was in the center ring at 100 yards with about a 1-1/2 inch group.

I am shooting federal fusion 300gr

recoil is mild. A lot less than I was expecting. It’s more like a strong 12ga. Just a good push not a kick like I was expecting.

anyway it’s sighted in. I am happy with the results. Might try to tighten the group up a little when I have more time but honestly I think it’s pretty good.

Nice groups! Those 45-70s are a bit much for me but I've got the 38/357 and will probably be buried with that rifle. I love that henry. Buttery smooth!
