High Plains Shooting Challenge

Here is the link to the entry form for the 2011 High Plains Shooting Challenge which will be an all rifle match this year. June 24th through the 26th. Competitors will shoot June 25th and 26th. Entry is only $100 and expect several thousand dollars on the prize tables. In years past, everyone goes to the prize table. It is at Oklahoma City Gun Club and is sure to be one of the best matches of the year. LOKI Weapons Systems is a sponsor as is Nordic Components, LaRue, MGM Targets, etc...

My entry is in the mail. This will be the biggest and baddest action rifle match in the country. That means it will fill up fast. I anticipate a big prize table and a lot of fun and challenging shooting.

What type of rifle and caliber is used in this competition? What do you see the most in each division?

Most competitiors will be using AR-15 variants. The real difference will be whether you shoot an magnified optic or not..

There is a rimfire and centerfire division both with and without optics. I'm just guessing sincve this is the first match of its kind but the centerfire .223 AR15 variants will likely out number the .22 rimfire rifles 4 or 5 to 1.

If yo have never shot or seen an action rifle match it will look something like these videos but on a grander scale.

I just talked to Match Director Trapr Swonson and he asked me to remind everyone that you need to send in a match application prior to shooting the match. This match may fill up so if you plan to shoot don't wait. Send in your application ASAP. DO NOT plan on simply walking up the day of the match to shoot. There may not be space left.

link no worky for me. one question: non-magnified allows red dot correct? thanks

Yes it is called 1x or Tactical Non Magnified. So iron sights or red dots, but NOT a 1-4X scope turned down to one. It can't have ANY magnification. KurtM
