A buddy and I are wanting to go hog hunting but we would not be able to do it until sometime next month. Since archery season starts on Oct. 1, doesn't this mean we would need to have valid hunting licenses and unfilled deer tags? After deer season, do I have to have a hunting license to hunt hogs during other seasons such as pheasant, quail, rabbit, etc...

You need a hunting license to hunt anything in Oklahoma. No specific seasons for hogs, just whenever. No tags required for hogs, they are not game.

This is somewhat incorrect. No hunting license is required to pursue hog, except on public lands, however persons persuing hog during elk, antelope, deer, or bear firearms seasons must have the appropriate license for that season.

If you look at the hunting reg book it is pretty clear, right under licenses needed for hog.

That's what I was thinking. We would be hunting on private land, so we shouldn't need a license unless we hunt after Oct. 1st....correct?

Yes you are correct. You can load up the wagon today with guns and bullets and go slay hogs all day if possible and not need any tags or licsense.

Subject: hog hunting during deer season
In the hog hunting regulations for private lands, it says that if one is pursuing hogs during deer gun season with a shotgun and rifled slug or a rifle or handgun larger than 22 caliber rimfire, one must have a filled or unfilled deer tag. So is it therefore correct that if I use a shotgun with 00 buckshot (no restriction on shot size for hogs) and/or a 22 magnum pistol to hunt hogs on private property during deer gun season, that no deer gun tag is required?
Thank you for your consideration.
Best regards
