I posted that i was working on this, down in the rifle forum, but i figured this was more appropriate for the photos.

All I did was clean up the metal with some 0000 steel wool, and a little CLP. Then I sanded the cosmoline off with 100 and then 150 grit sand paper. Finally I went over it all with 220 and then 320 grit to make it nice and soft, rubbed it gently with some of the 0000 steel wool and then rubbed in two coats of boiled linseed oil separating the coats by about 14 hours. It had very few markings in the stock the most prevalent was the (X) that can still be, I also believe this simply means it was had already been refinished back in Russia back in like 1945.

anyways, here is a link to the image shack photo album with the crummy photos I took with my iphone.

so. it has been awhile since i started this thread, but my rifle is completed.
noted everything i have done can be undone with simple tools, i kept all the original parts, no new holes, i can put it back exactly how it was when i bought it, except the refinishing i did to the stock.

i got the sweptback bolt body from theboltman, finally after 18-19 weeks.
