IDPA Oil Capital Dec 18 Saturday

Oil Capital IDPA next shoots Saturday December 18th (back to our regular 4th Saturday next month, since we'll be past the holidays). We've planned six stages, for about 100 rounds. Match fee is just $12 ($10 for OCR&GC members). Sign-in begins at 9 AM, with walk-through at 10.

In early 2011, we'll schedule the 8 hour IDPA Safety Officer Certification class. Please send a PM if you think you might be interested or want more information.

Badlands Regional IDPA Championship 2011 will also be the Oklahoma IDPA Champs for 2011. Dates are April 16-17, 2011. SO's will shoot on the 15th. Set-up on the 14th of April 2011.

I plan to be there. It will be my first IDPA match, should I get there early or is there anyone in particular I need to talk to before hand?

just go to club house up by rifle range and sign in. tell them you are new and what gun you shoot and they will put you in correct classification.

go outside and wait until the group forms and there will be a walkthru of each station. don't worry about what you don't understand at this point. after the last station's walkthru smaller groups of equal number of people will be formed. each group will have one or two IDPA range safety officers. these guys will run your group and explain each station before you shoot it. just let them know you are new and they are pretty good about taking care of you.

my suggestion would be to shoot SLOW and be careful. if you have questions ask them, there are plenty of guys who are willing to help.

Thanks to all for coming out. Results are out BCC email to the shooters. The match ran well, with good stages per the shooter comments. A couple stages were downright different. We continue to be pleased with the ease of set-up and tear down that our war wagon portable prop storage system provides. Those who made the match got to see all the range improvements in process, to include several new buildings, one of them a 25 x 115 foot Pistol Pavilion.

Several of you are interested in the date for the IDPA Certified Safety Officer Class I've promised. It will be Saturday February 19th at Oil Capital Rod & Gun Club. The class is an all-day activity, with classroom as well as live fire activity on the ranges. Cost will be a modest $10. Those who are currently certified SO's may audit the class for no cost. If you wish to attend, please let me know by email or a PM.

The International Defensive Pistol Association has announced the inaugural IDPA World Championship, to be held September 21st - 24th, 2011 at the Universal Shooting Academy in Frostproof, Florida. There will not be a separate US National Championship for 2011; the World will be it.
