The ban is still proposed...the "printing error" is just ATF muddying the water.

The fact remains that M855 doesn't even need an exemption because it isn't AP. We need to make sure that point gets shoved down ATF's throat.

"The ATF said in a statement on Tuesday they would not seek to issue final guidelines "at this time."

It's called a "tactical withdrawl". :D

Actually, I just read the expanded update and their statement is clear as mud:

The ATF said in a statement on Tuesday it would not seek to issue the final guidelines "at this time." The proposal pertained to M855 "green tip" ammunition, used in the AR-15 rifle; regulators looked at banning it because can pierce police body armor.

The ATF said in a statement on Tuesday it would not seek to issue final guidelines "at this time." The agency said it will instead wait until Americans have finished commenting on the federal regulations and evaluate their comments and suggestions before "proceeding with any framework."

The statement follows 52 senators and 238 House members joining in opposition to any attempt the Obama administration might make to ban the ammo.

"ATF will not at this time seek to issue a final framework," the agency said Tuesday. "The issues raised (so far) in the comments ATF has received to date will require further consideration, and fully processing all of the comments will take time. Given the overwhelming interest in this issue, and the issues raised in the comments received so far, ATF will not at this time issue a final framework."

WTF does that even mean? Are they going to wait until everyone is focuse on the next Obama administration scandal and backdoor everyone? Nothing in that statement says to me that this is over. H.R. 1180 just became MORE important IMO. :(

There is already a common thread of internet speculation that the Obama actually walks away with a strategic victory of somehow illegitimately lending credibility to the ATF's new policy of using hypothetical, unintended, potential, misuse as a basis for making determinations of prohibitions instead of the historical policy of basing their determinations on designed and intended uses.

This only means you can catch your breath. Don't exhale in a sigh of relief, though. All that has happened is that the ATF will huddle for a couple more months to regroup and come up with another plan. This isn't over.

Yep. Stay vigilant and be prepared to respond again. I just can't believe this administration is willing to give into the will of the people. They have an agenda to pursue.
