OldFart I was wondering how it was going. I did a little camo project today while I thought of you. On AR15.com I found a thread on sponge painting. I think it turned out real good. It's drying now and then I will assemble it and get some pics. I may start another thread in rimfire so I don't clutter up yours. If you haven't done yours yet you should look it up. I'm not very swift on the computer or I would put the link up. Now I'm on the look out for an older pump shotgun to do. Then maybe one day my nuts will drop and I can do an AR!!

old fart, I was going to mention that you might want to bake the barrel/metal parts at 200 degrees in the oven to make the oil in the microscopic cracks come to the surface, and degrease, but looking at the surface rust, probably not necessary.

I did a home blue job awhile back on a junker, and that was the manufacturers recommendation.

Dirty Dave feel free to post your pic's here also.

Yea I pretty much decided to go the easy route Dennis.
It's going to get abused some so minimal effort is going to be used.
I don't think I have any real money in the gun to begin with.

Between the weather and my G'sons wrestling I haven't lifted a finger on this yet. :screwy:

I was thinking of doing this to my new Ak. Is there a specific kind of paint to use or will any work? And is there any prep work I need to do first? I saw Larry Vickers paint an AR on tactv and it was basic paint. But it looked great. Any ideas and input would be great.
