A stray pup has been hanging around work for a few days now. Since I brought her out a pan of water, the guys immediately started calling her "my" dog. She came in through an open door on Tuesday, and hid in the shop all night. She also set off the alarm several times, and used the bathroom everywhere. I've been sharing meals with her, and last night she ate more than half my dinner, so I gave in and made a store run to get her a big bag of food and a bowl. She's sweet, but very skittish. Dunno how long she's been on the street...maybe her whole life. She's got lots of minor war wounds from living the hard knock life, including what must have been a broken leg, which healed without being properly set, so she has a fat knarled lump, and a hitch in her giddyup. Between the yotes and roaming pitbulls in the neighborhood, I'm surprised she's made it this long ... But I really admire her survival skills. I'd like to take her in permanently, but I'm in financial crises myself right now. If it weren't for my boss letting me use a cot in my office, I'd be sleeping in my car. I guess maybe that right there is enough of a similar plight to build a bond between friendly strays. I'm gonna gently start working on the boss to let her in. Every good dog deserves love, and even though I'm in a tough spot myself....this I have to spare.
