We're not 5 to 10 weeks farther behind other orders because we're a group buy. ALL ORDERS ARE 10 WEEKS OUT MINIMUM AS OF RIGHT NOW. This wait is expected to get worse the closer to November we get. By the time July 13 rolls by and I submit payments, that time could increase to 15 weeks or 20 weeks. That is why I said 15-20 weeks in anticipation of the turn around time increasing by the time money is sent in July. Erik can't guarantee that turn around times will remain at 10 weeks 2 months from now. If you called in and paid for an order today, you will be waiting about 10 weeks out before you receive your upper. In case you haven't noticed, but AR components are becoming scarce due to increase demand. Part of this is due to the upcoming election buying frenzy that has started. The fact that Remington just won a contract over Colt for another 24,000 M4 rifles may just add to the scarcity of parts. We are not financing someone's business for half a year. Even 6 months ago before the buying frenzy, it would still take a couple of weeks to a month for them to manufacture and assemble 20 or so uppers. They make these to order and each one is hand assembled. If you want an upper now, then theres quite a few sponsors of this website who specialize in AR's like Mark's or Cold Hand Arms. This group buy is for those who specifically want a Loki upper for a discount. If you just want an upper, I'm sure there's cheaper, more immediate options for you. BCM website is out of stock on a lot of their inventory of uppers. Daniel Defense has almost all their uppers listed as "Call for availability" meaning they're hurting to meet demand due to scarcity of components. Joe Bob Outfitters is backordered on almost all their uppers. About the only sites I know that still has a healthy inventory of uppers is Palmetto State and maybe Model 1 sales. Sorry, but if you have a problem with having to wait, then you'd better get the stuff now locally wherever you can now, because it will only get worse the closer to November we get. Loki right now is operating at peak and most of the wait is waiting on components. As for assembling and sourcing your own parts, realize that you will be fighting over the same parts that these companies are fighting to buy in bulk. Brownells is out of many of the upper and lowers parts for the AR. So are many of the other retailers for uppers and lowers parts. I have no doubt that you will be able to build an upper with maybe the same amount of money and less time if you are more flexible of the component manufacturers and quality. I could probably build a complete rifle in 1 week ordering from Palmetto state and building a lower from parts bought here locally. That might be the best option if time is really that big of an issue.
