From that picture, it looks like his hand is rotated around the gun with the backstrap going into the web of his thumb instead of the palm of his hand... Rotating the gun into his palm should make his fingers not wrap as far around. Could be just the angle of the photo though.

Sounds like he may be a candidate for a Glock in 10mm or .45 platform, like a Glock 30 or 21.

Or get the lad a trigger shoe!

I have the same problem,very few handguns have a long enough reach for me. You see all the gun maker bragging on their latest gun changed to fit smaller hands but ,few have them changed to fit bigger hands. I've tried several guns with the changable backstraps but,few come close. The H&K USP Tactical I bought two weeks ago fit me best.
