M-70 take off barrel on a M98 action?

Anyone know if this is doable with a minimum amount of fuss?

NOT doable. Winchester 70 barrel shank thread is 1" dia. x 16 threads per inch, Mauser '98 barrel shank (large ring) is 1.1" diameter x 12 threads per inch. Mauser '98 SMALL ring is .980" dia. x 12 t.p.i. Winchester shank will not 'clean-up' when turning down to .980". For general info, Remington 700 barrel shank is 1.062" dia. x 16 t.p.i. Can go Rem. to Win. but that's all.
