Yup, it sounds like the United States is becoming just like the socialists over in Europe. Someone gets the crap beat out them and then the victim goes to jail. I guess we will have to wait till there is a complete investigation.

Nothing to talk about here until statements are taken and the janitor is either cleared or charged.

That's the paper speculating he may still have charges filed... stupid media. The authorities released him, and yes of course they're still investigating. Don't get all up in arms.

Smart fellow not giving a statement before being properly represented. No twisting of the facts and his name cleared is the best outcome in this situation.

I don't understand this statement. According to the article, he was a maintenance worker doing his job by replacing a lock on an apartment door of a tenant who was being evicted. Apparently the apartment belonged to a friend of the teens and they then beat him with a bat thinking he was the manager of the complex. Am I missing something?

The maintenance worker had every right to be there, but it was an area known to be dangerous. I'll select a few paragraphs to try to emphasize what I mean.

According to Fox6 News, the three assailants mistook the janitor for the building manager and attacked him over the fact that one of their friends was put on notice for eviction."

The paragraph above states that the apartment was located in a rough area of Milwaukee.

"His lawyer told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel that his client has a permit to carry a handgun and feels it is an “occupational necessity” to carry a firearm with him."

The paragraph above states that the maintenance worker has a permit to carry because occupational necessity.

"A friend of the assault victim says that he is a “peaceful” man who has worked many years in an area that others would refuse to work in."

In the sentence above, the article states he has worked for many years in an area that others refuse to work in. I assert that he voluntarily went into an area he knew was dangerous, and was attacked. If he had avoided the danger area, he would not been attacked by this trio and would not have shot and killed the 17 year old girl.

The man has a right to make a living. Someone was going to do the job in the area and if he had been there many years it appears that he likely had a good relationship with the residents.
