Marines replace M4

This is not a replacement for the M-4, it is replacing the M249 Light Machine Gun, itself a 5.56 weapon. This is the equivalent of the Army's SAW

The Commandant intends to equip every Marine in an infantry squad with an M27, not just the squad gunner. The decision on who outside of the infantry squad gets one is still being discussed.

They are replacing the M4 totally now

And they still don't have a round with it that will punch through the body armor of near peer forces.

They ordered 50,000 M27s from H&K.
It weighs 7.9lbs. Throw on the optic, mount and ammunition and they are basically carrying an M1 Garand that shoots .223. Seems pretty stupid. A 16" better spec'd steel and heat treated, mid-gas barrel would be a better and more cost effective route.

Absolutely no one has ever accused those in charge of armament specifications and/or procurement of being cost effective or even intelligent.

This is a mistake just like the many that have been made since the pussification of our armed forces.

Relaxed physical standards, changing of weapons etc. Did you know they have GAY weddings at West Point? WTF is happening around us. This new gun switch is just a baby thing but if you look at what is going on from a 50K foot level you can see there are some very evil people out there that are dead set on destroying our military forces. If we do not take back our country from the liberal/progressive /communistic/political correct enemy soon we will not have a country to take back.

Where did you find that info? I didn’t see anything to indicate that and a 50,000 order isn’t a 10th of what they’d need.

The M27 has already replaced the SAW. Not everyone, apparently is getting a M27. Just The combat arms, CS and CSS probably

I was in the army and currently serving in the army national guard. When we all went through basic we still qualified with open sights. They only let us shoot out to three hundred. Wish we had higher PT standards as well. Kids aren’t raised like they used to be.
