The hunt is over, a fellow member on our grand site answered the call and I was able to acquire a nice rifle for the pops 60th here in a couple months. Shout out to RFerling for reaching out and letting me purchase this old beauty.
Looks nice.
Seeing the disc in the stock, is that a unique model number from Marlin?
I've read they made special runs of 30/30 lever actions with their own model numbers for certain chain stores, OTASCO being one.
That's a nice find.
I'd love to own one of the Otasco models someday. Granny worked in their offices until retirement.
Correct this rifle was one of the OTASCO runs, a model 3079. I had never heard of them until this one. Both my dad and I have always been a big fan of the Marlin's, I think its going to be a nice addition.Looks nice.

That'd be pretty sweet, ive never seen one of those either. 3 of mine are just standard Marlins a 35, 30-30 and a 444. Then I have a .357 all from the good old no safety days.Awesome
I will have to go look. My Marlin has the gold coin set in the buttstock. IIRC, it is "100 years of Marlin".
Have never seen them OTASCO one.
Agreed, same way with smiths.I will not own anything with those stupid safeties.
