I have one in stainless and its pretty well made and accurate. One thing I've noticed on these is you wanna check how the action is fit to the stock. I've seen a few that are kinda loose and one that had to be sent back for repair.

Mine use to have a problem feeding rounds but I bent the mag rail forward and it stopped.

Recently savages have been very very poorly fit. On most of them the barrel is off about 1/8" in the channel some are so bad the barrel isn't even floating.

Anywho just some stuff to look out for if you're in the market. Oh and the 917v runs $229.99 at academy. Stainless is $329.99.

I had one a couple years back and liked it plenty.
No problems and it functioned flawlessly.
But that was a few years back, I have no knowledge of current production.
As a side note Marlin has always made a good quality weapon.
