Police arrested this man at the scene and are searching for two additional suspects.

TULSA, OKLAHOMA -- A home invasion apparently cost one suspect some fingers after a Tulsa homeowner fought back, according to Tulsa police.

The invasion took place just before 6:30 Saturday morning in the 400 block of South 106th East Avenue.

"According to the victim, his front door was kicked in and a white male and black male entered his house," said Corporal Scott Anderson of the Tulsa Police Department.

Anderson said evidence shows the two men broke into the residence in an attempted armed robbery. The homeowner wrestled a gun from one of the suspects and fired several rounds, wounding the man in the hand. EMSA medics asked police to search for man's fingers, the corporal said.

"The suspect possibly lost one or two fingers," he said.

The homeowner then held the suspect at gunpoint until police arrived. The second suspect ran from the house and left in a car driven by a third man.

The homeowner was pistol whipped as he fought with the suspect. Both were taken to local hospitals with non life-threatening injuries.

The getaway car is believed to be 1980s model white Pontiac Grand Am.

Suspect whose fingers shot off now in Tulsa Jail

Bobby James Lewis

Published: 10/4/2010 10:30 PM

A Tulsa man who had two fingers shot off during a home invasion was booked into the Tulsa Jail late Monday.

Bobby James Lewis, 23, was arrested on complaints of robbery with a firearm, assault with a deadly weapon, first-degree burglary and knowingly concealing stolen property. His bail was set at $96,500.

Police allege that Lewis and an accomplice kicked in the door to a home in the 400 block of South 106th East Avenue about 7 a.m. Saturday while another person waited in a getaway car. The homeowner, Larry Ryan, 59, fought back.

Ryan said the bandits yelled, “Give me the money!” as they pointed guns directly at his head.

He said he grabbed for one of the weapons and that a struggle ensued. While he was being pistol-whipped by one robber, the gun Ryan had grabbed discharged and shot off two of the other robber’s fingers, Ryan said Saturday.

Ryan and Lewis were taken to hospitals for treatment.

Cpl. Scott Anderson said the other robbers fled in a 1980s-model white car, possibly a Pontiac Grand Am.

Three men have been charged with an attempted robbery during which one of the men’s fingers were shot off by a homeowner.

Brian Eugene Breckenridge, 43, Vincent Edwin Lieb, 19, and Bobby James Lewis, 23, were charged Thursday with attempted robbery with a firearm, first-degree burglary, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Lewis faces an additional charge of knowingly concealing or receiving stolen property.

Lewis was arrested after two of his fingers were shot off Saturday morning at a house in the 400 block of South 106th East Avenue, police said.

Three men had broken through the front door, and the resident, Larry Ryan, 59, got a gun away from one of them.

In the process, the gun fired, shooting that intruder — identified as Lewis — in the hand, according to arrest reports.

Ryan held the injured man down after the other men fled, police said, and Lewis was arrested when police officers arrived.

Lieb was arrested later that day.

Breckenridge was arrested Thursday evening.

In 2005, Breckenridge was convicted of possession of a controlled drug and possession of a firearm after the commission of a felony, for which he was sentenced to concurrent five-year prison terms, court records show.

Armed man rapes woman during home invasion

Published: 10/10/2010 11:09 AM

Two women were robbed at gunpoint and one of them was raped during a home invasion early Sunday.

Police received the 911 call at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday, Tulsa Police Sgt. Jeff Cealka said.

A man wearing a mask and armed with a handgun entered the back door of a residence in the 2500 block of E. 37th St. North and demanded cash, Cealka said.

Three adults and two children were in the house at the time, but only two of the adults, aged 20 and 21, encountered the robber, he said.

The man made one of the women go out to her car and look for money and then demanded electronics, Cealka said.

The man then forced one of the women into the kitchen and raped her. He left with a stolen cell phone and pocket change, Cealka said.

The suspect is described as black and in his 20s. He is about 5 foot 10 inches and weighs about 140 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black zip-up hooded sweatshirt and red shorts with a white stripe on the side. His mask had a skeleton design on it, Cealka said.

Geeze, sure am glad I live down here in Altus ... a pretty darn quiet place for the most part. Usually the problems are down in the "Flats" where the Hud Housing is .... 'nuff said
