So, I have a question about which 10/22 to purchase. My intentions for the rifle is to use it as a plinker and for my son and I hunt squirrel and the like. Just a fun gun that is reliable. Option one: A gun shop has a real nice one that has a "low" serial number of 35,xxx and was manufactured in 1966 or so. It has a very nice stock with custom checkering. Overall a very nice gun with clean barrel. Asking $209.00 from the gun shop. Second option: is to purchase a new rifle from BPS using $200 worth of gift cards and pay an additional $30-$70 cash for a standard or stainless model. What would you do? Is the first option a big deal with the lower serial number? After reading the 10/22 thread I have a feeling I would want to mod the rifle down the line. BTW, when I was at another gun shop last weekendnthey had a 10/22 with a serial number that was 4xx made in 1964, iirc, and they were asking $550.:slap::scratch:
