I've traveled around some of the world as a part of work. Most places in europe have single payer insurance that the .gov pays for. I've asked them about it. What they say is that if you need a heart transplant, you can get one at little to no cost, but it will be by the medical staff that can't support a private practice, meaning they are the bottom of the barrel. Just like any job at Micky D's for example, there are folks that can turn out a good soy based burger patty and there are those that burn them most of the time. Some can do it and some can't. According to the folks I talked to, you have the socialist medicine yet they still have doctors in private practice that the middle income and above use out of their pockets to not attend the social medicine clinics. My VA clinic Doctor has told me that if I have a heart issue, he will not send me to xxxx va hospital for treatment, but if I have an orthopedic issue, he will send me to xxx VA hospital because as we have recently found out, the VA (social medicine, single payer) has allowed Doctors that have had their licenses revoked in states because of whatever reason to work for the VA. Now, tie that back into what I stated about the European single payer, then tie that back into why heads of state and rich folks from other countries come to the US for medical treatment if it a serious issue. Single payer is not the solution, but since Obama started this dirty road, our current congress is continuing the process. We will be at single payer as long as the .gov is involved in it and not the free market system.
