P 38 identification help

My friend recently received a P38 WWII bring back.

He says that it was brought back by a family member.

I am looking for a site that has any information on this or someone here that may know about these.

LH slide. P.38 729X j ac 4.4

LH frame. 729X j. And a samll mark that looks like a bird and 359 under it

RH slide. Bird with 359. Nazi symbol. Bird with 359

Under barrel. 729X


This has the holster with suicide pouch inside and 11 rounds of 9mm ammo with

RWS on top of case, 1 on left and 38 on right


Any help would be appreciated.

Correct 1944 issue Walther P38. What markings are on magazine/magazine's. They should be somewhere along the spine. With P38v on the side. Those would be correct ofr the gun, and would add value to a collector. Of course pics would be nice as well to determine finish wear.

When searching for info on the other forums, refer to it as "Eagle over 359"
. You will get better results. According to my little book, E/359 went into production in 1942.

Thats nothing more than a proof marking.

mmmmmmmmmhhhhhmmmmm I can get a russian capture mixmaster P38 from SOG for $499. I'm sure that holster is worth quite a bit alone.
