Back when I was in Jr high-high school(mid 60 late 60s) I raised "full sized" Dachshunds. Most of you probably know Dachshunds were bred by Germans to go underground in badger tunnels to pull them out. My female was about 25 lbs. or so and the male was probably 35 lbs. The female was as sweet as she could be and would even let me help with the pups when they were breech birth. The male on the other hand would protect me but you sure didn't want to try to take his squirrel scraps away when we fed him. A German Shepard got after him one day and Sergeant ran around him and came thru his legs and grab his throat and threw him to the ground. Had a tough time getting him off the Shepard. All said they are great dogs not the little inbred things you see today for the most part. Any dog can go savage just like people if treated wrong
