But the cities that do, hold the vast majority of the state's population.
But the modern use of it in California has been only around for less then 20 yrs. Cali was lefty prior to Ranked voting.
Everyone knows SF was a bastion of conservatism until they changed ranked choice voting in 2002 for local elections….

You are correct in that I do need to better understand ranked choice voting. Voting in open, nonpartisan primaries concerns me. The article you shared stated RCV favors candidates from the center and I typically do not favor candidates from the center. Thank you for the article.
It’s amazing what happens when candidates have to care about people other than their base.
Be tougher for banksters to hedge their bets by financing both parties with RCV. That's a win.
