I really want to know how this is a case of neglect when I had oiled it. I literally bought the gun tore it down cleaned it oiled it. Put it away for about a month took it to a gunsmith to have amng extension added on got it home cleaned and oiled it and left it untouched for about 4 months. Frankly this is a manufacture issue how is it that my sks, 2 mosins, an xd9, a rohm 22 all have the same care and none of them have had any rust what so ever. And several of these guns I have owned for 5 plus years how come none of them are rusting? I fully understand how rust works and how to prevent it and most metals have a protective finish, on that note I have a lamp made out of a cam shaft that is bare metal that gets touched daily and it has never seen a speck of rust and I don't oil it every time I touch it. The shot gun in question has a protective finish on it and has been handled twice there should not be rust. If it rusts through the finish remington either needs to get a better finish or they have a QC issue on letting contaminates get on the metal and not being cleaned before finishing. Yes it is an express but for almost $400 I should not have to tip toe around and pull it out every week and oil it as you aparently do.
