All of my buck activity has been after dark 12:20 am, 2 am, 3 am, 5:40 am etc. Yesterday was different a nice mature 9 pointer started chasing my girls during the late morning and afternoon. I had 2 opportunities to have a shot with my crossbow but I passed as both were too far for a clean kill. Today I had a 6 or 8 pointer with half of a rack missing wearing the girls out going around and around and around the place. Several times I could have harvested him. His partial rack was symmetrical and appeared to be a 2 1/2 year old. I turned him down because, frankly, I had too much work on my plate to take the time to clean the fella. One of my does is coming into estrus because of her actions and the way she is raising her tail. She also is the one that the 2 bucks have focused on. The 4 does are sticking tight together as if to protect the one coming into season. "Butthead" is an 18 month old agressive buck with a 2 x3 Rack that is a cull and needs to go. I may take him by Thursday ifn he shows his face or wait until next week when I have more time. Sticky - we need to hunt together next week. You have a bucket list item that needs to be fulfilled while we can.
