It's not so hard to believe considering insider trading is already illegal, so this bill is effectively nothing. If anything this bill may provide reps a legal loophole out of prosecution. Hooray!?!
But ultimately I'll say the real problem we have here is having a standing congress in the first place. They should be like the national guard, and only called up in times of extreme emergency. We have no need to pass new laws year after year, and they've proven that we don't need them to pass a budget every year. Get rid of the whole concept and we'd save a lot of money and hardship.

Sen. Colburn is spot on. this is a feel good bill and nothing else. if you read the original article, it says congress is protected under the first amendment and other laws which would hinder criminal investigations.

Congress should be stopped from insider trading but this bill really does not do that. It is just another feel good mess.
Personally I think any government official doing what is best for themselves instead of what is best for the country should be charged with treason, tried by a jury of non-government employed taxpayers and hung if found guilty.
