And they shot well.
Just a bit more kick than my 200gr and they show promise.
So far they group ok but i only shot them at 14 feet.
3.7gr bullseye and 4.1gr bullseye powder.
The 4.1 grouped a bit better .. will shoot some more tomorrow possibly.

I will be trying some different lubes see if that makes any difference.
They go 2.5" deep into fresh cut green cottonwood.
In the same section of wood just inches away i shot 22LR and they went in 1/2"- 3/4" deep.

I did not crony them.
I think my lube is funky.. as i let the gun rest and cool the first shot from the next batch is always high.

What's your intent for the heavy for caliber rounds? IIRC, bowling pin shooters used to shoot heavy rounds under the premise that even a marginal hit would be more likely to knock (Or scoot) a pin off the table. MV's tended to run in the high 500s-low 700s fps to allow for fast enough recovery for the next shot(s).

Stock springs, or increased poundage? Have fun with it!

Well accuracy is my goal for the most part.
I wanted to try a 230gr mold and see it it was more accurate than my 200gr.
A local had this,, http://www.midwayusa.com/product/57...lt-long-colt-452-diameter-255-grain-flat-nose new mold and it casts 263 with my mix.

I figured give it a try.
It is a closer shape to a wadcutter than the 200gr i currently use.
I can't push my 200gr very fast or it tumbles..
Could be an issue with groove diameter and bullet shape.
Either way i needed something else to try ..and i got this cheaper than i could form midway.

Here art the 2 i have now for my 45acp. The light one on the left.
I have never shot bowling pins and never shot or been to a competition. Just plink and hunt.

Have you taken a look at the saeco design 230 gr trunicated cone? Lee makes that design as well. It performs great for me in all 3 of my .45's, but i am shooting titegroup and not bullseye. Another one you might want to look at is the RCBS 225 gr cav. It also does well for me but I like that saeco bullet better.
What different lubes are you using?

Using 50-50 wax and lubriplate grease first.
Then a 50-50 JPW and LLA
It so far has not grouped as well as my 200gr.
Keep trying.. I have tightgroup and HP38 i will also try.

OK tried some different lube.
the 50-50 JPW /LLA johnson paste wax Lee Liquid alox

groups better.. first shot was cleaned barrel and lubed with CLP and wiped clean.
That first shot went high the other 5 grouped well.

I sent a few down range at 30 feet and through my crony.
First shot went 752 fps
second shot was 741 fps
followed by 2 more that both went 749 fps
No crimp..
I shot a couple at 2x4's that i just purchased at lowes.
Will go all the way through the first one and will bury into the second one the depth of the bullet.
I weighed a recovered bullet 258gr.
This is not a hard mix.
Had fun! And just what i wanted. a heavy hitter.
But in reality my 357 mag has more energy...Next up is shooting the same 2x4's with it.
