No,no,no....10-15 years before I retire. My wife and I are looking into retirement areas. I don't want to set at home when I retire.....so if we move to Vegas, I'll be the older guy either parking valet cars at the casino or picking you up or dropping you off at the casino.

Flagstaff or Santa Fe? Hmmm, substitute teach HS Science, Biology, or Chemistry.

Thanks for the info on the snow cables. I think studded tires are illegal in Oklahoma. May keep the truck for a snow beater.

For driving in OK winters unstudded snow tires are more than sufficient. I've had cars with Yokohama Advan tires (look em up) and had to change out for winter tires. Nokian are the best and they aren't as expensive as you'd think they might be, Blizzak are also good (Made by Bridgestone I believe). Studded tires are overkill, especially for here. Their only advantage would be on densely packed snow or ice. If we have an ice storm like those that have people without power for days before you shouldn't be going anywhere anyway.

You'd probably be surprised at how awesome a dedicated winter tire can be.

A hot setup for mountain cars with close fender clearance- Spare wheels, Blizzak (or similar) tires, but go down/ narrow a size to allow stud clearance when bottoming out and to concentrate footprint. Our Volvo dealer in Colo. hooked us up with a set of trade out factory wheels and Blizzaks. Tremendous difference over on snow & ice. Probably a PITA to change back and forth for occasional snowy weather.

And when it's really crappy, it's time to just leave it at home and break out the 4WD pickup with chains on all 4, a bed full of packed snow, shovels and tow straps.

PS- Check your intended new State's laws on the alternative "Chains". They may, or may not count.

Those things in the pic look hokie. I bet they are worth what you'd pay for them in the dependability department.

If you have so much worry about the snow then why must you be dead set on keeping a sports car. Plenty of AWD/4WD SUVs out there that will keep up with the vast majority of sports cars. Personally if I didn't have a 2012 dodge 1500 as a full paid for company car I would own a 4x4 ford F150 with EcoBoost.

BTW, if you retire, why do you want to go be a Valet in Vegas? Defeats the purpose of retirement, eh?

BTW, Flagstaff would be my choice or better yet, Williams, AZ which is about 30 miles West of Flagstaff seems to be real nice as far as retirement. In the mountains with a little less snow than Flagstaff and still have the big pine trees. Larger pieces of property and still has that country feel. Best of all only 3 hours to The Vegas.

Not dead set on driving sports cars in snow....I'll probably keep my little truck for bad weather.

As for retirement, everyone I have seen retire hate it after a few months. They either wish they didn't retire or start thinking of some part-time jobs to stay active....mentally and physically.

As for me....I can't or won't be a couch potato or a coffee group of old timers, solving the world's problems before 10:00a.m. So, the part-time job is to remain active and alert.

Costa Mesa....I have lots of relatives in So.Cal. Santa Ana, Long Beach, Huntington Beach, Brea, Pasadena....and other cities.
Use to go to Baja a lot to fish down around Ensenada. I've spent many a time in Cabo...waaay before it became Los Angles in Baja...too touristie for me!!!
