A Radial engine starting up
A Cushman Eagle backing off the throttle
A covey of quail taking flight

Some sounds are so quiet they're "loud". In my back yard at 6:20 this morning a cottontail ran for his life past me not 30 feet away. 2 seconds later a coyote raced by on the outside of the fence 100 ft farther away. Neither made any sound.

The sound of a perfectly executed Bill Drill.
Any WWII era warbird engine, radial or piston.
The wail of a Pagani Zonda F at WOT.
The hull of my Triton TR20 slapping the chop on the water in the morning.
Coffee percolating.
The whap of a bullet hitting steel.

Probably a lot more I can't think of right now.

The sounds of the small block in my nova busting off.
Idle of an aggressively cammed car.
Racking of a shot gun.
The squishing noise the ground makes while my dogs walk after the rain.
Rain on the windows while I sleep.

Here, but occasionally There.
Amen on the Delores River from the original poster's comments.

Add:

The buzz of the hummingbird's wings.

The whisper of the wind blowing through the needles of a Pine tree.

A grandchild doing whatever.

Along with the Delores River, the sound of water rushing over a rocky bed.

A male Pheasant's crow as he starts flight.

The sound of a camera's shutter getting that great image.

The rumble of my Ford F450 towing our fifth wheel up a mountain pass....

....oh, wait. Haven't done that one yet, but I still love the sound of that diesel.

The sound of my wife's breathing as we top a ridge and look out over a beautiful mountain valley. Just knowing that she is there, enjoying the same things I do.
