I went on a 2 month research craze trying to find the best gps available for non-nasa stuff of course. I read so many reviews I had dreams about GPS at night. After way too much research I chose a Garmin Nuvi 3590 LMT and I LOVE this thing. It's very easy to operate, has good graphics, lifetime map and 3D traffic updates, you can customize it lots of different ways (mine has a little pink sports car and speaks in an English woman's voice - her name is Hobson but you can make yours a fighter jet or an X-wing fighter or lots of others). It never does that annoying "recalculating" stuff or other aggravating behaviors you often get with other brands. It has so many options it's crazy, it'll even read a book of your choosing if you get bored on a long trip. While no system can be fully up to date, my 3590 does a pretty good job of mapping accidents or congestion and routing me around it to save time. Probably the best thing is it learns as go, so it knows your patterns and gives information before you ask. For example, it knows that at such and such time on this day or the other I usually go to the grocery store or the bank or whatever so that when I start the car up it immediately has the route ready, how long it will take, whether there is any traffic congestion on the way...that kind of stuff. It really does a great job of learning and making it easier for you the next time so whether you need the directions or not you can just leave it on to learn. Using the Bluetooth also makes receiving phone calls easy and safe. I could go on and on but you get the picture. My sis loved it so much she had to have one so I got it for her at Christmas. It's a great choice in my opinion.
