Tell me about S&W 65-1

One of my local toy stores has a S&W 65-1 coming up for sale on Saturday.
The gun is in good shape and locks up tight with no end shake to the cylinder. There is a very faint ring on the cylinder but you have to look for it. It has the original wood grips and they are in very good condition. What would this little gem be worth?

Oh sure, the model 19s and 66s may LOOK sharp with their adjustable sights and shrouded ejector rods, but there's just something about the ol' M&P that just means business.

I consider them everything you need and nothing you don't.

Is this one a 3 or 4 incher?

Yeah...that's a tad high. $300/$325 is about ideal.

+1! They are great guns.
In fact a 4" somewhat customized 65 is one of my primary carry guns. Mine has been Mag-Na-Ported and has had the butt rounded off and the single-action notch removed from the hammer so it is DAO. But it is butter-smooth. It sports wooden factory RB grips and a Tyler grip adaptor. I've had it for nearly twenty years.
I love mine.
