The BBC says thousands of medical patients in the north of England got a text message on Friday telling them they have "aggressive lung cancer" when the message should have simply wished them a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
At least they fixed it pretty quickly:
"But within the hour, the surgery sent a follow-up offering 'sincere apologies for the previous text message sent.'"

Dang! Went in for a prostate exam and found out I have lung cancer. When thousands upon thousands of people are all connected with the touch of a button big mistakes are bound to happen. Remember in 2018 when Hawaiian residents were sent a mass text to seek shelter because they were under a missile attack?

What kind of ******* doctor would send that diagnosis via text message?
This one surely would.

Crap like this can happen and will because Doctors (especially Millennials) don't want to talk on the phone. Even worse this supports one way dialogue, you cannot text back, you cannot ask questions, Doctors have become almost as authoritarian as politicians. Follow up is crap with doctors, you can go to a physician for decades yet the records will only go back a few years. This is in America, where at one time we were looked at as the premier providers of health care! We had state of the art equipment and treatment at one time. Doctors may care, but they are becoming less likely to think for themselves and follow the suggestions of bureaucrats over the education they have received, but even that may be in question.

We took the kids on a road trip through Ireland and the UK in 2019. My in laws had been watching this show and convinced us to take a detour on our way back to Dublin from London. The town they film the show in was one of the coolest things we did that entire trip. We ate in a tiny diner that was really the living/dining room of a small home open to the kitchen. The people were incredibly nice and hospitable and we did a small hike to a hilltop overlooking the town from the opposite side of the bay.
