Follow up: If you go the Pike's Peak route, be sure and have water for everyone and tell them to sip at the water as you gain altitude. That helps alleviate altitude sickness. I failed to do that one time and got involved with taking pictures instead of taking water. I had to sit in the vehicle and sip on water for about 10 minutes before I was comfortable with driving back down the mountain. If you go the route of going to Victor and Cripple Creek, seek out Phantom Canyon Road drive from Highway 50 east of Canon City to Victor and Shelf Road from the south side of Cripple Creek back to Canon City. (Pics on my Smugmug site. See links above.) Cave of the Winds is an option if any of your group are interested in caverns. They also have some "thrill" rides. Check out the link. In Old Colorado City, there is Michael Garman's Magic Town. If one likes to see artistic things, he has built a small city-scape inside the museum where one can see a "community" from back in olden days (30's and 40's.) Peek in the windows and you might see scantily clad ladies, and scenes within that change as the light inside changes. Similar changes are seen in the alleyways, and there are little holograms. The movie theater is even showing the movie listed on the marque on a little screen that can be seen through the open doors. Be prepared for parking meters if you have to park on the street. If you like German food, Edelweiss restaurant is a must.
