For a while now I've been thinking about going from a 5" to a 4" 1911. Not long ago, I traded my 5" SR1911 away for another firearm, so now I'm 1911-less and I've developed a twitch in my left eye. Needless to say, my search for another 1911 is in high gear. I loved the SR1911, and had initially planned on just getting the CMD version. I want a series 70, but wouldn't mind upgrading a little from the SR. I suppose series 80 isn't out of the question, and I could just convert it to series 70. Not really interested in Kimber/Para/Remington. Some of the Sigs like the C3 look interesting. Anyways, looking at spending $1000 give or take a little. I'm thinking a used Colt, but want to make sure I'm not forgetting about other good options. Any opinions on a good 1911 commander?
