Got this doe this morning.
She dressed out at 111#.
Took her with a Marlin 336 .30-30 handloads with my cast bullet.
Load was 180gr GC rounds nose over 30 gr of W748. This load gave me an avg. velocity of 1865 fps.
Doe was quartering to me and the bullet entered just behind right shoulder and exited offside about 6 inches ahead of her left hip. Broke a rib on the entrance and took out three ribs on the way out. Internal damage was "impressive".
She ran about 30-40 yards back up the hill she had come down, did a back flip and expired.

That's good to hear and see. I really, really need to get off my duff amd get a mold for my .375 Winchester. But when you hit them with the 220 grain Hornady flat point flying at about 2100FPS? Well, they don't usually run at all. :D

Good job though...

Congrats on the deer!

PS. Looks like you may have gotten shot in the chest. May want to check that out.

PSS. Did you notice the quarter that's stuck to the doe? Wonder what that's all about? :anyone:
